Landfill directive October 30th 2007:
- Material currently classed as general waste going to landfill will be banned from October 30th 2007 without prior pre-treatment or segregation. This means that any materials such as food, organic, animal bi-products, bio-degradeable and recyclable material will have to be removed, ie. Recovered and recycled before the landfill site will accept the rest of the waste.
- A treatment option must comply with the definition of treatment. This involves a "three point test" against which the waste producers must assess the proposed treatment option.
- It must be a physical, thermal, chemical or biological process including sorting.
- It must change the characteristics of the waste; and
- It must do so in order to:
- (a) Reduce its volume; or
- Reduce it's hazardous nature; or
- Facilitate it's handling; or
- Enhance it's recovery.
Recycling Services:
My company specialises in the recycling of animal by-products, low risk category 3 wastes and liquids wastes, plus contaminated materials such as polythene with labels on, polystyrene with labels on and all types of cardboards. We can normally find alternative recycling options for all other types of dry waste material and we also specialise in composting materials, recycling to land and land remediation. We have our own network of various waste management facilities, environmental scientists, agronomists and specialist contractors should any of these be required.
